There is no telling what Compost Montreal would have been without Tye's involvement, but what's for sure is that it would never have been such a success. Tye was there when the office was a bedroom and we had just one truck, and is responsible for many of the developments that have made the company what it is today. Not only is he our Operations Manager, he also conceived the company's logo, organizes many of its events, and helps not only to establish company initiatives, but also to define its character.
He is a reference for all things pop-culture and is a multi-threat in the kitchen.
Truly a force to be reckoned with, Myriam has brought a great deal of energy to the team as a core member since 2009, and has taken on many different tasks during that time. Currently studying in Law at UQÀM, she still finds time to represent the company in both commercial and residential client relations and also acts as a liason with the Québec government.
On top of all this, she is an athlete, an activist, and her vegan cupcakes can't be beat.
Ben is perhaps the most experienced of the collection team, having been part of many a run, whatever the weather, since 2008. He also continues to work as a bike messenger, subsistence farmer, activist, and requires all the calories you can imagine to be able to do it all.
While the rest of us are painting in broad strokes, Manny is focused on the details. Since his arrival in 2010, he has developed and elaborated many of the systems we've come to rely on, most notably our internal data management and our waste-oil collection infrastructure. An asset that cannot be exaggerated, he has brought operations to a new level and will be responsible for much of the company's continued success.
Is fond of Earl Grey tea and epic guitar solos.
Dependable as they come and multi-talented, Sylvain has been known to us for years, but it is only in the summer of 2011 that we were able to add him to
our team. He is a backcountry traveller, a farmer, a bike mechanic, and - lucky for us - a driver on our collection runs. He has also recently joined our office staff on a full-time basis in our development department, where he
continues to reveal innate understanding and talents, while driving the company forward through his efforts.
Effortlessly stepping into the role of Bucket Girl, Eleuthera is the one who ensures that we have clean white buckets to provide to our residential clients, and her BPH (Buckets Per Hour) is off the charts. A talented vocalist who performs regularly with her Montreal-based group, her energetic arrival at work is always a happy moment in the day.
Stylish and bright, Steve is our Development and Sales Coordinator. He represents the company and its different services to businesses of all sizes, and also acts as a liason with government agencies responsible for sustainable development and waste reduction.
Laurence had big shoes to fill when she was added to the team to fill the hole left by Matthew when he left to travel the world and expand his horizons.
Laurence was described as a "slam-dunk" after her interview, and has not disappointed. She immediately took on great responsibilities not only in the office but also as a driver on our collection runs, and has shown herself to be a very versatile and important member of our team.
Dynamic, dedicated to working for the greater good, and seemingly inexhaustible, Richard is not only a politically-engaged law student, but is currently working overtime between championing the rights of recent immigrants and working as a driver on our collection runs. He has also engaged himself in the development of Compost Montreal, a role to which he is perfectly suited with his terrific attitude and outgoing nature.
Another example of how recommendations from friends can lead to the best working relationships, Steve took over when Nick F. moved back to Vancouver. A solid guy who does great work, Steve is quickly becoming a seasoned member of our collection team.
Larry D. Dog
Larry inadvertently joined the team over the Christmas holidays of 2008 when he was found sniffing at slush in the middle of St Laurent boulevard during a collection run. A real team player with a playful disposition, Larry is always there to help when you're cooking something, provides stress relief, and helps to keep the squirrels at bay.
Hall of Famers
Of course not everyone who has worked with us over the past few years has been able to stay, but they are each special in their own way. They remain not only honourable members of our team and partners in developing a sustainable future, but also good friends: Valérie Duchesneau, Tobie Tousignant, Nick Mory, Travis Ahearn, Claudia Diaz, Meagan Castle, Lucas Fehr, Lucas Moore, Gilles Rainville, Nick Falman, Christian Roy, Mikäel Bottreau, and Matthew Bruno.
